Role of Medication in Substance Detoxification
Medication is commonly used in treating substance-related disorders to assist in safe detoxification. These medications are used to detoxify an individual safely after an overdose, manage withdrawal symptoms, prevent seizures and agitation during detox, and prevent drug reuse. However, detoxification can be difficult and dangerous, and getting off drugs can sometimes involve the use of other medications that are themselves addictive.
