Salmonellosis Caused by Salmonella Bacteria

The rod-shaped, gram-negative bacteria is part of the normal microbiota of the body, though exogenous agents causes infection depending on several factors (including the serotype, health of host, and inoculum size). The bacteria can live for extended periods (including persisting in phagosomes) though is vulnerable to high temperatures.
