Sanai's Critique of Pretentious Poets in Section 7 of the Hadiqat al-Haqiqah

In Section 7 of the Hadiqat al-Haqiqah, Sanai offers a satirical critique of pretentious and untalented poets who claim poetic status without the necessary skills or substance (bi-alat and bi-mayah). He condemns them for using poetry merely as a tool for begging (daryuzeh) and seeking material rewards—such as shoes, hats, or bread—from commoners, thereby degrading the spiritual and intellectual value of the craft.
