In Section 84 of Hadiqat al-Haqiqah, Sanai uses the metaphor of the crucible (buteh) and refinery furnace to explain the function of earthly trials. He posits that these tribulations serve to refine the human soul, separating spiritual impurities from genuine virtue just as fire separates dross from gold and silver. Through these challenges, an individual's true spiritual state (whether a friend or enemy to the Divine) is revealed, allowing the purified soul to rise above the material heavens.
