In Chapter 8, Poem 9 of Attar's Mokhtar Nameh, the poet outlines the profound characteristics of the perfected lover. The lover is described as one who has transcended worldly and emotional fluctuations—neither diminishing nor increasing—and who faithfully guards the divine secret in absolute silence. Ultimately, out of profound reverence and fear of the Beloved's divine zeal (ghayrat), which tolerates no duality, the perfect lover achieves a state of complete self-effacement. In this perfected state, the lover ceases to manifest or even acknowledge their own ego, hiding entirely from themselves.
