Spiritual Courage and Divine Madness in Attar's Mokhtar Nameh (Chapter 6, Poem 26)
In Poem 26 of Chapter 6 of Attar's Mokhtar Nameh, the poet explores the themes of transcending the dualities of existence and non-existence, and the overwhelming nature of spiritual realization. He asserts that true 'manliness' (spiritual courage) lies in estrangement from both the material world and the void. Furthermore, the internal wonders of the soul revealed through this transcendence are so profound that failing to be driven to 'madness' (spiritual ecstasy) by them is, paradoxically, the true madness.
