Education Level and Stress (1983-2009)

Stress levels between 1983 and 2009 generally showed an inverse relationship with education, where higher stress was reported by those with less formal education. Individuals with less than a high school education experienced a steady increase in stress to a score of 19 by 2009. Those with a high school diploma or some college also saw their stress levels rise. Similarly, individuals with bachelor's or advanced degrees, while starting with lower stress levels, both experienced steady increases in stress across the three survey years.
