Employment Status and Stress Levels (1983-2009)

Surveys in 1983, 2006, and 2009 revealed distinct stress patterns based on employment. Unemployed individuals reported the highest stress levels, which peaked at a score of 20 in 2006 before declining. In contrast, retired individuals consistently had the lowest stress scores, which remained relatively stable. Those with full-time employment experienced a steady increase in stress over the entire period, while part-time workers saw their stress rise until 2006 and then decrease by 2009.
