Subjective Nature of Stress

Stress is not an objective feature of an event but a subjective experience that arises from an individual's personal interpretation. Environmental events trigger stress only based on the meaning assigned to them. Therefore, whether one experiences stress is highly personal, a concept often summarized by the phrase 'stress is in the eye of the beholder'.
