Subsistence Economy
A subsistence economy is an economic system where production is primarily geared towards satisfying the basic needs of the producers, with little to no surplus generated for trade or profit. The focus is on survival and self-sufficiency, rather than on accumulation of wealth. While often associated with agriculture, it can apply to any community that produces just enough to meet its immediate consumption needs.
