The study looked at the frequency and patterns of eight reoccurring SARS-CoV-2 mutations in four geographic regions divided by Asia, Oceania, Europe, and North America. RNA-dependent-RNA polymerase mutations were discovered in SARS-CoV-2 spreading throughout Europe, which may have contributed to an overall increased frequency of mutations in this region compared to Asia.
