Supporting a Scientific Theory

When a systematic empirical study yields statistically significant results that are consistent with the hypothesis, researchers conclude that the underlying theory is supported. This means the theory made an accurate prediction and can now account for a newly observed phenomenon, thereby strengthening its validity.
