Tailwind

A wind current blowing in the same direction as an airplane is flying is called a tailwind. This wind assists the airplane, meaning its actual ground speed is increased. For instance, if an airplane's speed in still air is rr and the speed of the wind is ww, the effective rate of speed with a tailwind is r+wr + w.
