The Abled Disabled was coined by Tanya Titchkosky to discuss how the political formulation of disability as a problem both works to exclude disabled people while manufacturing a few disabled people as the "abled disabled" who are meant to provide inspiration to non-disabled and disabled people. The abled disabled are defined by not just seeking the betterment of themselves and other, working against all odds to 'overcome' their disability but also becoming more successful at doing 'normal things' after becoming disabled.
