The Allegory of the Demonic Wet-Nurse and Worldly Attachment in the Hadiqat

In Section 38 of the Hadiqat al-Haqiqah, Sanai uses the metaphor of a child being nursed by a 'White Demon' (Div-e Sepid) to represent the soul's attachment to the material world. The 'milk' of this demon represents worldly desires and long-held hopes (amal) that sustain the physical body but ultimately lead to spiritual ruin. The poem warns that death (ajal) will eventually turn this 'milk' black, serving as a powerful memento mori to wean the seeker from deceptive worldly comforts.
