In Sanai's Hadiqat al-Haqiqah (The Walled Garden of Truth), the tale of the Nightingale (bolbol) and the Crow (zagh) serves as an allegory for the vanity of superficial distinctions in the face of worldly temptation and ultimate fate. While the nightingale boasts of its beauty and mocks the crow, both are ultimately ensnared in the same trap due to their shared greed for bait. The allegory highlights that worldly desires level all differences, and before the divine decree (falak), there is no distinction between the beautiful and the ugly, or the grand and the humble.
