This allegory from Attar's Manteq al-Tayr tells the story of a Sufi whose attempts to wash his clothes are repeatedly thwarted by rain clouds. Frustrated by the weather turning against him, he attempts to trick the clouds by claiming he is going to buy raisins instead of cleaning supplies (ashnan). The narrative humorously illustrates the futility of human resistance against natural occurrences and, by extension, Divine Will. The story serves to teach the Sufi principle of 'taslim' (submission) and 'riza' (contentment) with God's decree, showing that inner peace comes from accepting circumstances rather than fighting them or attempting to outsmart fate.
