In the eleventh discourse of Farid al-Din Attar's Mosibat Nameh, the spiritual Wayfarer (Salik) visits Hell (Duzakh) during his quest for a remedy to his existential pain. The dialogue between the Wayfarer and Hell serves as a Sufi allegory illustrating that the penal fires of Hell are secondary to, and overshadowed by, the intense inner fire of spiritual love ('ishq) and yearning. This concept highlights that the true seeker's inner burning and devotion transcend physical torment and material destruction.
