In Chapter 12, Poem 14 of Attar's Mokhtar Nameh, the poet illustrates the disproportionate greed of the physical body and ego (nafs) through the metaphor of an ant. Although an ant requires only a single grain a year to survive, it desires an entire granary sealed in its name. This imagery highlights the absurd and endless nature of worldly desires when the soul is disconnected from true spiritual love, which Attar refers to as the 'Joseph of love' (یوسف مهر).
