In Farid al-Din Attar's The Conference of the Birds, the Valley of Gnosis (Wadi-ye Marefat) is the third of the seven valleys the birds traverse. According to the poem, the path of gnosis is uniquely tailored to each seeker—whether their path focuses on the body or the soul—because each individual's capacity and state of spiritual progression varies.
