In Farid al-Din Attar's The Conference of the Birds, the Valley of Love (Wadi-ye Eshgh) is the second of the seven valleys the birds must traverse. It represents a state of being completely consumed by divine love, which Attar describes as a fierce, all-encompassing fire. In this valley, a true lover abandons conventional reason, foresight, and the dualities of good and evil, or faith and disbelief. The spiritual seeker in this stage must willingly sacrifice everything, burning away their ego and worldly attachments to pure passion and yearning for the Divine Beloved.
