In Farid al-Din Attar's The Conference of the Birds, the Valley of Unity (Wadi-ye Towhid) is the fifth of the seven valleys the spiritual seeker must traverse. It represents a state of profound realization of divine oneness, stripping away all illusions of multiplicity. In this valley, the pilgrim recognizes that the myriad forms of existence are ultimately unified; whether one perceives many entities or few, all are fundamentally one in the Divine. Furthermore, this unity transcends conventional numerical oneness and the limitations of time. The concepts of eternity past (Azal) and eternity future (Abad) dissolve, leaving only the singular, timeless reality of the Divine, where any sense of duality or separate existence is extinguished.
