Concept
The Current Study
The study's objective was to test again the difference in the within-treatment drinking outcome between MI, SOMI, and NTC using a bigger sample size. This study evenly weighed the baseline drinking severity between all conditions. It was hypothesized that the effect of MI compared to the other conditions would be decreased by motivation. This means that people who have lower motivations would have a reduction in drinking for MI compared to the rest of the conditions. However, if the primary action for MI were to increase motivation in a person, then it would be clear that MI is best utilized for people with a small amount of motivation.
