The study included 139 participants who had problems drinking and were diagnosed with AUD. The three conditions generated were MI without directional or technical elements (SOMI) and a non-therapy control condition (NTC). The participants were given conditions and assessments that would be taken during weeks five and eight. Those who were under the NTC condition were offered MI once the treatment got to eight weeks. Participants under MI or SOMI had undergone psychotherapy three times in the treatment period. All of the participants had to take a survey in the morning and in the evening to monitor alcohol use.
