The Devastating Raid of Memory in Absence in Attar's Mokhtar Nameh (Chapter 42, Poem 10)

In Chapter 42, Poem 10 of Attar's Mokhtar Nameh, the poet describes the profound devastation and helplessness experienced by the lover in the beloved's absence. The memory or 'troop of imagination' (خیل خیال) of the beloved is depicted as launching a sudden 'night raid' (شبیخون) on the lover's heart, overwhelming the already burnt soul and causing complete emotional defeat.
