Students in the chunking treatment saw improvements in reading comprehension
- Treatment pre-test: 1 good, 0 fairly good, 5 fair, 4 poor, 20 fairly poor
- Treatment post-test: 2 good, 6 fairly good, 11 fair, 8 poor, 3 very poor
- Treatment pre-test mean of 50 lower than post-test mean of 56 indicates improvement in reading comprehension
Students taught other strategies still had trouble with comprehension
- Control pre-test: 4 poor, 26 very poor
- Control post-test: 30 very poor
- Control pre-test mean of 36 higher than post-test mean of 23 indicates no improvement in reading comprehension
