The Heart Wholly Filled with Divine Remembrance in Jami's Baharestan (Kharaqani's Saying)
Sheikh Abu'l-Hasan Kharaqani, asked what thing is best, answers that it is a heart whose entire content is the remembrance (یاد / dhikr) of God. The accompanying quatrain intensifies this: a heart so completely seized by remembrance of the Beloved that no room is left for any other thought. The teaching distills the Sufi ideal of perpetual dhikr as the total occupation of the heart, where remembrance of the Divine crowds out every rival preoccupation and becomes the measure of the highest good.
