In Book Six, Section 48 of the Masnavi, Rumi explores the theme of hypocrisy through the interaction between a Sufi and a Qadi (judge). When the Qadi becomes furious after being slapped by a dervish, the Sufi reproaches him, pointing out the stark contradiction in his behavior.
