Concept

The Incompatibility of Material Wealth and Faith in the Father's Answer

Concept Overview

In this section of the Elahi Nameh, the father warns his son about the corrupting influence of gold (wealth) and material pursuits. He asserts that the pursuit of riches diminishes a person's spiritual essence and standing.

The Dualism of World and Faith

The poem presents a strict dualism between the material world and spiritual faith:

  • The Shadow of Gold: Worldly wealth casts a shadow that degrades an individual's true essence and moral foundation.
  • Mutual Exclusivity: This world (dunya) and faith (din) cannot coexist. Seeking one inherently compromises the other, as they are mutually exclusive paths.
