In Poem 2 of Chapter 4 of Attar's Mokhtar Nameh, the metaphor of the Divine as an endless, unified ocean (بحر) is used to illustrate the absolute insignificance of the created universe. Attar asserts that the entire firmament is not worth a single drop of this ocean, and even if 'eighteen thousand worlds' were to fall into it, they would be utterly swallowed without a trace (not even a fish would emerge). This emphasizes the overwhelming majesty of the Divine, in which all of creation is subsumed into nothingness.
