In Chapter 9, Poem 35 of the Mokhtar Nameh, Attar describes the perpetual restlessness and insatiability of the human heart. The heart constantly fluctuates, sometimes waning from the desire for the Truth and at other times decorating itself with falsehood. This oscillation highlights the spiritual hunger of the soul, which remains unsatisfied by either extreme, repeatedly rising hungry from this table in its search for ultimate fulfillment.
