The Journey from the Part to the Whole of Wholes in Attar's Mokhtar Nameh (Poem 16)

In Poem 16 of Attar's Mokhtar Nameh, the poet describes the sequential stages of the mystical journey. The seeker must first travel from the fragmented 'part' (individual existence) to the 'whole' (universal existence). Yet, comprehending every part and whole is only a transitional phase. The ultimate destination requires transcending both to gaze upon the 'Whole of wholes' (کل کل), which symbolizes the absolute and indivisible Divine Unity. This illustrates the Sufi path of surpassing all multiplicity to attain direct contemplation of the Divine.
