In Poem 7 of Chapter 19 of Attar's Mokhtar Nameh, the poet invokes the figure of 'pure Jesus' (عیسی پاک) and the motif of a 'needle' (سوزنی) to symbolize the hindrance of worldly attachments. According to Sufi tradition, Jesus was prevented from ascending to the highest spiritual heaven because he carried a single worldly possession: a sewing needle.
