In Poem 32 of Attar's Mokhtar Nameh, the speaker addresses the dawn, pleading with it to draw 'a thousand veils' to preserve the night of seclusion (شب خلوت) with the Beloved. The morning is personified as a hostile, disruptive entity wielding a sword (تیغ) of light. The speaker defiantly urges the morning to strike its own head rather than sever the intimate darkness that unites the heart-wounded lover and the Divine.
