The Metaphor of the Destructive Heavens and the Cycle of the Moon in Hadiqat al-Haqiqah

In Section 49 of the Hadiqat al-Haqiqah, Sanai employs the cycle of the moon and the turning of the celestial spheres as metaphors for the fleeting, vulnerable nature of human life. He depicts time and celestial bodies as agents of decay—referring to them as 'guards of the greatest dome' (pasbanan-e gonbad-e a'zam) who relentlessly tear apart the 'tent of the soul' (khaneh-ye jan) month by month. This imagery warns the spiritual seeker against relying on the material world or astrological forces, portraying the cosmos not as a source of spiritual guidance, but as a mechanism of worldly distraction and physical mortality that the seeker must transcend.
