The Metaphor of the Partridge and the Fountain of Meanings in Attar's Khosrow Nameh

In Section 45 of Attar's Khosrow Nameh, the poet employs the metaphor of the partridge of the mountain of meanings ('kabk-e kohesar-e ma'ani') and the Fountain of Khidr to illustrate the journey of spiritual and artistic inspiration. The partridge, representing the poet's soul or creative intellect, is urged to leave the darkness and return to the source of the water of life to retrieve brilliant gems of meaning. This allegorical self-address serves as both a mystical exhortation and a meta-poetic transition, wherein the act of writing poetry is equated with diving for pearls of divine wisdom.
