The Mirror Metaphor and the Integration of Body and Soul in Attar's Mokhtar Nameh (Chapter 10, Poem 32)
In Chapter 10, Poem 32 of Attar's Mokhtar Nameh, the unity of body and soul is illustrated using the metaphor of a mirror. Attar explains that when the front (representing the soul) and the back (representing the body) of the mirror become unified and indistinguishable, the duality between them dissolves. While the soul is currently hidden or 'lost' within the physical body during earthly existence, this relationship is reversed in the spiritual realm where the body becomes lost and integrated into the soul.
