In Book Six, Section 59 of the Masnavi, Rumi tells the parable of a man whose path is blocked by a group of women. When he impatiently complains about their large numbers, a woman rebukes him by pointing out societal flaws and reminding him not to be distracted by worldly anxieties, physical numbers, or economic fears. The parable functions as a spiritual lesson, urging the seeker to look beyond superficial worldly occurrences ('the events of the times') and recognize the deeper divine providence without being blinded by superficial distress.
