In Poem 39 of Chapter 18 in Attar's Mokhtar Nameh, the poet highlights the paradox of the spiritual search. He warns that ordinary human effort (following tracks) is futile because the seeker possesses no independent, substantial reality (You are nothing). Since the seeker is fundamentally nothing, they cannot actively bridge the gap to attach themselves to the Divine. Instead, Attar reveals that the Divine is intimately close and already present with the seeker. This makes the outward act of searching unnecessary and contradictory. True understanding comes from recognizing this immediate proximity alongside the seeker's own nothingness.
