The speaker expresses fear of the morning's 'breathing' (the breaking of dawn) and its 'drawing the sword' (the piercing rays of sunlight). Because the Beloved is sitting with the lover 'behind the veil' (در پس پرده) of the night's protective darkness, the morning's light is feared as a destructive force that will 'tear the veil' (پرده دریدن), exposing and abruptly ending their hidden union.
