In this chapter of Hujwiri's Kashf al-Mahjub, the doctrine of rida (contentment) is drawn from a narration about Moses. Moses asks God to guide him to a deed that will earn divine satisfaction, and God answers that His own contentment with the servant lies in the servant's contentment with His decree (qada). Divine satisfaction is therefore attained not through any particular action but through wholehearted acceptance of God's apportionment: when a servant is content with what God ordains, that acceptance is itself the sign that God is content with the servant.
