The Rejection of Custom and Self-Sacrifice in Attar's Mokhtar Nameh (Chapter 44, Poem 2)

In Chapter 44, Poem 2 of Mokhtar Nameh, Attar presents the Qalandari theme of discarding the 'cloak of custom' (خرقهٔ رسم) to reject superficial religious and societal conformity. The seeker must overcome all obstacles on the spiritual path through absolute self-sacrifice, metaphorically staking their own 'head' (life or ego) and overthrowing even their own existence if it becomes a barrier.
