The Results about Negated Corrections and Misinformation
After reading the passage and answering open ended questions about the passages, the questions were scored. Researchers found that when subjects were exposed to target concepts, negated corrections reduced the spread of misinformation. However, when they were not exposed to the target concept, it did not reduce the spread of misinformation. The study showed that negated corrections can actually increase belief of misinformation when the subject has not been exposed to the information.
