The Seal of Prophethood and the Descent of Jesus in Jami's Haft Awrang
In this section of the Silsilat al-Dhahab from the Haft Awrang, Abdul Rahman Jami expounds upon the Islamic doctrine of the finality of Muhammad's prophethood (Khatam al-Anbiya). Jami uses the metaphor of the whole and the part, stating that while other prophets represent partial manifestations, Muhammad represents the complete whole. He further addresses the end-of-time eschatology where Jesus (Masih) descends from heaven, clarifying that Jesus will not bring a new law but will instead act as a follower and propagator of Muhammad's Sharia, demonstrating the eternal and absolute authority of the final prophet's message.
