In this praise section (naat) opening Jami's Yusuf and Zulaikha within the Haft Awrang, the poet celebrates Prophet Muhammad as the bearer of the seal of prophethood (khatamiyyat), signified by the ring of the seal on his finger and the physical mark of the seal between his shoulders. Jami plays on the letter 'mim' of Muhammad's name and the imagery of the primordial pen and tablet of non-existence to present the Prophet as the most honored (mukarram) of all creation, the figure through whom the progeny of Adam attains dignity. The verses articulate the Sufi doctrine of prophetic finality and Muhammad's supreme cosmic rank among created beings.
