It is the process of reducing the transformation of stimulus functions by using cues and strategies that alter the function which will change the effect of verbal events on behavioral processes.

It is the process of willingly experiencing emotions or sensations that would otherwise be automatic or unwanted without attempting any form of resistances or control over the experience.

Acceptance in ACT

It is the process of focusing on the immediate relevant internal and external environment instead of reflecting on past experiences or possible future experiences.

Flexible Attention to the Present Moment in ACT

It is the process of reporting an individual’s own behaviors from a consistent perspective or point or view in a way that they would feel less threatened by the negativity of the statement. This is accomplished by acknowledging that the thought or statement does not definitively summarize them.

Self as Context in ACT

It is the process of choosing the quality of action that will reinforce their verbally established value.

Values in ACT

It is the process of using increasing patterns of activity that will eventually expand an individual’s valued responses.

 This is a behavior change method that is based on the Relational Chang Theory but is directly involved with the development of greater psychological flexibility. This is an alternative to other methods of controlling unwanted psychological experiences by focusing on helping individuals change their relationship with these experiences. Additionally, it focuses on the acceptance of the occurrence and diffusion from stringent adherence of unhealthy psychological events as well as committing to action of behavior that will support living a lifestyle of predetermined healthy values.
