The Son's Shift to Seeking Knowledge of the Ring of Solomon in the Eighteenth Discourse
In the Eighteenth Discourse of Farid al-Din Attar's Elahi Nameh, the son modifies his pursuit of the physical Ring of Solomon. Conceding that he may not physically possess the precious ring, he asks his father to reveal its inner secret (sirr). By seeking the knowledge of the ring to illuminate his heart (delfrouz), the son transitions from a worldly desire for absolute control and supernatural dominion to a quest for spiritual understanding and enlightenment.
