The Soul's Transformation from Drop to Pearl in Attar's Mokhtar Nameh
In Poem 38 of Attar's Mokhtar Nameh, the poet asserts that spiritual transformation requires the soul to transcend the physical body and embark on an inward journey. This is illustrated through the classic Sufi metaphor of a drop of water that must undergo a journey to become a precious pearl. Just as the drop achieves its supreme value only through its passage, the human soul realizes its true essence and divine worth only by undertaking the arduous journey of spiritual insight (safar-e jan).
