The Sweetness of the Beloved's Harshness in Attar's Mokhtar Nameh

In Attar's Mokhtar Nameh, the lover's unconditional devotion is often illustrated by their ability to find sweetness in the beloved's harshness or sour temper. Rather than being repelled by the beloved's 'bitterness', the lover perceives it as a manifestation of perfect beauty or attributes the harshness to their own ill fortune. This paradox emphasizes the Sufi concept of welcoming affliction and cruelty from the divine beloved as a sweet and cherished gift.
