•A form of universal prevention that delivers psychoeducational information on parenting skills to parents. The "first step" gives broad information, yips, or messages to parents interested in this program.

Level 1 of the triple P positive parenting program

•A brief intervention for parents of children with mild behavioral problems, mainly one-time assistance to parents who cope well but have a couple of concerns with their child's behavior or development.

Level 2 of the triple P positive parenting program

•Targets children with mild to moderate behavioral difficulties and provides active skills training for parents. 

•Deals with specific problem behaviors or actions.


Level 3 of the triple P positive parenting program

•This level is where most parents start and is considered the core intervention. 

•This level is meant for parents of children with severe behavioral difficulties or for motivated parents interested in gaining a more in-depth understanding of Positive Parenting.

•It can be delivered in a variety of formats. Incorporates sessions dealing with the causes of children’s behavior problems, strategies for encouraging children’s development, and strategies for managing misbehavior. 

Level 4 of the triple P parenting program

•A program for families where other sources of family distress complicate parenting difficulties. 

•Intensive support for families with complex concerns

Level 5 of the triple P parenting program

This program offers treatments/prevention for severe behavioral, emotional, and developmental problems in children from ages 0 to 16 by enhancing their parents' knowledge, skills, and confidence. This is meant to teach parents positive parenting behaviors that work best for their child.
There are five levels to the program.

Parent's behaviors affect children's motor skills (object-control skills and locomotor skills)
Although these behaviors help manage their disabilities, "+" parenting doesn't dramatically change the children's skills in a short period. It takes time as it haves an accumulated effect on the child's motor skill development over time.

The triple P positive parenting program

The capacity for someone to perform bodily movements, such as walking or jumping.

Locomotor Skills

The capacity for someone to handle or manipulate an object. Some examples include throwing, catching, striking, or bouncing an object.

Object-Control skills

- When parents effectively encourage their children during activities, it could extend their opportunities to learn skills involved in their activity. 
- Letting a child know what they are supposed to write, using encouragement during writing activity improves their fine motor skills.
- Providing positive feedback will also help children improve their "behind on" skills because they aren't reprimanded for doing it wrong. 

Examples of Positive Parenting Behaviors

•It improves their emotions and behaviors.

•When children are in a positive environment, it helps them learn how to manage their emotional arousal better, cope with emotion-inducing situations, and manage their behaviors better.

•Also helps children overcome fear and accept disappointment and frustration, allowing them to strengthen their motor skills.
